We are witnessing some breathtaking history.
On February 25, 2022, during Black History Month, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. On April 7, 2022, during Women’s History Month, a bipartisan group of Senators confirmed Jackson’s nomination. Throughout her life, Judge Jackson stood out as a high achiever. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, then attended Harvard Law School, where she graduated cum laude and was an editor. But like many Black women, she still had naysayers. Despite it all, she succeeded. As she takes her rightful place, the historic spotlight will continue to shine. Make no mistake, women’s reproductive rights will be on the ballot this November. Voter suppression among many other challenges may make its way to the Supreme Court. Her journey will be rich.
